5 BENEFITS OF USING OLIVE OIL

Other then olive oils wonderful flavors, it also has many health benefits that can’t be ignored

Antioxidants
Olive oil is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and polyphenols. It is believed that there is as many as 5 milligrams of antioxidant polyphenols in every 10 grams of olive oil. These antioxidants have been shown to reduce coronary artery disease, lower nitric acid levels, and fight off free radicals that damage the body’s cells and tissues. It is also understood that it can provide digestive track protection, contribute in delaying the bodies aging process, and much more making olive oil a healthy choice for the body.

Oleocanthal
Oleocanthal is a polyphenol in olive oil that contains natural anti-inflammatory agents. Research has found this compound of olive oil inhibits activity shared by ibuprofen, and is believed to play a key role in reducing chronic disease by reducing inflammation. DHPEA-EDA
Olive oil carries the DHPEA-EDA polyphenol that is shown to protect red blood cells from damage. As the red blood cells are the oxygen carriers of the body it is important that these cells do not carry any oxidative damage from free radicals.

Monounsaturated Fatty Acids
The main type of fat found in olive oil is the monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) which is deemed as a healthy dietary fat. MUFA’s are able to lower your risk of heart disease by controlling the bodies LDL or bad cholesterol, while also raising the bodies HDL or good cholesterol.

Anti-Cancer Properties
Olive oil also contains polyphenols that have been researched for its anti-cancer properties. As the polyphenols in olive oil are believed to lower inflammation and cellular proliferation, they act as antioxidants reducing oxidization and cell damage which can lead to many degenerative diseases.

Additional research suggests that olive oil has beneficial properties for bone health, cognitive function, and anti-cancer benefits, and more research is being conducted to discover additional ways olive oil can be beneficial to our health.

THE BLACK & WHITE TRUTH

The difference between sophisticated flavor of black and white truffles

Truffles grow underground and range in color from almost black to off-white. The black truffles actually have the strongest flavor with earthy overtones and a very pungent aroma. White truffles, on the other hand, have a more delicate taste with a garlicky aroma.

Make sure while cooking with these oils you consider the recipe and other ingredients you are using. For example Black truffles are great cooking oils as they have a stronger taste, for this oil try with meats, sauces and casseroles. White truffle oil has a lighter taste and are usually not used to be cooked with, so white truffle oil is better with eggs, pasta with cheese, risottos and dishes where it will be drizzled on after the cooking is completed.
